Mice lacking both isoforms exhibit reduced survival, sterility, low body weight, hyperalgesia, tremors, turning behavior, impaired locomotion, altered channel response and improved glucose tolerance. Isoform-specific deletion may lead to increased insulin release and abnormal eye electrophysiology.
