Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit reversal of plasticity direction at parallel fiber-Purkinje cell synapses. Mice homozygous for a different null allele show motor impairments, including ataxia, altered body mass composition, a reduction in anxiety-related behavior, and cognitive deficits.
