Embryos homozygous for a gene trap mutation that deletes the proline-rich domain show a severe anterior truncation and a lethal headless phenotype (loss of fore- and midbrain). Embryos homozygous for a gene trap mutation which retains most of the proline-rich domain show normal head development.
