Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele display impaired biliary lipid secretion in response to a lithogenic diet, and show altered adaptive responses of macrophages to cholesterol loading. Mice heterozygous for a spontaneous allele show lack of phosphatidylcholine transfer protein activity.
