Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit elevated T3, T4, and TSH serum levels, abnormal ear morphology, deafness, and abnormal thyroid morphology. Mice homozygous for allele with point mutations exhibit disruption in thyroid hormone sensitivity.
