Homozygotes for a null allele show postnatal lethality, cleft palate, polydactyly, enlarged lateral ventricles and impaired neuronal migration. Homozygotes for a gene trap allele show late-onset nephronophthisis associated with renal cysts and fibrosis, and retinal degeneration leading to blindness.
