Homozygous null mice exhibit a progressive demyelinating disorder of the peripheral nerves with hindlimb weakness. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele exhibit decreased cellular susceptibility to gamma-irradiation and increased susceptibility to spontaneous and induced tumors.
