Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit partial embryonic lethality. Mice homozygous for a knock-in allele display partial embryonic and perinatal lethality. Homozygosity for the p.E77* mutation leads to thicker sural nerve myelin sheath and heterozygosity leads to increased susceptibility to and severity of induced seizures.
