Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele survive to adulthood but exhibit slow postnatal weight gain, lactatemia, reduced mitochondrial respiration capacities, oxidative stress, mitochondrial ultrastructural and functional defects, impaired autophagy, and cardiac dysfunction associated with hypertrophy and left ventricular remodeling.
