growth/size/body
• neonates are smaller compared to wild-type and littermates that are not homozygous for at least one of the loci
• mutants are about 30% smaller compared to wild-type and littermates that are not homozygous at at least one of the loci
• all organs, except for the thymus, are decreased in size in proportion to the reduced body size as a result of a decrease in cell number

hematopoietic system
• B cell proliferation in response to IL-7 is significantly impaired in the bone marrow
• T cell proliferation is reduced in response to suboptimal levels of alphaCD3 and IL2
• the fraction of pre-pro-B cells is increased in the bone marrow
• the fraction of late pro-B cells is slightly decreased
• fewer and hypoproliferative megakaryocytes are seen in spleen sections
• the erythroid progenitor fraction in the spleen is increased
