Homozygous inactivation of this gene leads to partial postnatal lethality, altered blood homeostasis, polyuria, hypovolemia, hypotension, increased bone turnover, skeletal deformities and altered adipose morphology. Spontaneous and ENU-induced mutations cause a skeletal-overgrowth phenotype.
