Homozygous inactivation of this gene can lead to hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, lethal vascular events, congestive heart failure in response to volume overload, reduced serum testosterone levels, altered steroidogenesis, and reduced myocardial PMN infiltration and infarct size after I/R injury.
