Homozygotes exhibit postnatal lethality due to acute intestinal malabsorption. Survivors recover well but exhibit splenic and Peyer's patch hypoplasia, intestinal villus malformation, gut truncation and distension, abnormal molar and sublingual gland development, and deranged lymphocyte homing.
