Targeted disruption of this gene does not alter viability, fertility or general health. However, adult homozygous mutant mice exhibit increased sensitivity to the acute cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of aflatoxin B1, a major risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma in humans.
