Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are embryonically lethal. Surprisingly, mice homozygous for the G672E hypomyelinating leukodystrophy mutation show no evidence of hypomyelination, cerebellar atrophy, Purkinje cell loss or significant motor dysfunction.
