Homozygotes for a null allele show hepatosteatosis, hypocholesterolemia, increased serum alanine transaminase level, reduced VLDL-TG secretion, small VLDL particles, and lipid accumulation in enterocytes. Homozygotes for another null allele show reduced total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels.
