Nullizygous mice show neonatal death and persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous. Homozygotes for a null allele have choanal atresia, ethmoturbinal hypoplasia, ventral lens rotation, short ventral retina and no Harderian gland. Homozygotes for another allele show thick neural retina and no vitreum.
