Mice homozygous for a null allele show increased ethanol consumption and increased sedation in response to ethanol. Male mice homozygous for a different null allele show delayed puberty, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, reduced serum testosterone levels, and altered seminiferous tubule morphology.
