Homozygous null mice show pericardial edema and impaired cardiac morphogenesis and electrophysiology, including ventricular septal defects in a subset that suffer early lethality, and reduced heart rate and cell cycle defects leading to hyperplasia in surviving adults. About 50% die by weaning.
