Heterozygous or homozygous inactivation of this gene leads to increased incidence of spontaneous and carcinogen-induced tumors. Homozygtes for a null allele show working memory and cognitive deficits, enhanced anxiety, defects in glutamatergic synaptic transmission, and impaired spine maturation.
