Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit partial embryonic lethality and defects in early heart development, including thin myocardium and decreased fetal cardiomyocyte number, leading to increased myocardial fiber size, myocardial hypertrophy, and decreased cardiac function in adulthood.
