Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are embryonic lethal and show embryonic growth retardation, delayed embryo turning, abnormal somitogenesis, hemorrhages, reduced blood vessel density in the placental labyrinth, and cell proliferation defects under normoxic conditions.
