    Physical mapping and restriction analysis of 600kb of YAC chromosome DNA around the D17Rp17e, Plg and qk region of Chromosome 17 enabled ordering of genes within that region. The following gene order was established: D17Leh511 - D17Leh512 - D17Rp17e - Plg - D17Leh514. D17Leh514 was estimated to be 90kb distal of Plg. D17Leh511 and D17Rp17e are contained on the same 360kb SacII fragment. Based on genetic cross and physical mapping data the distance between qk and D17Leh511 was estimated at 300-360kb.
