Notes
  • Experiment
The authors analyzed 9kb of the 5' flanking region of the Xist gene and isentified the Rps12-ps1 pseudogene that partially overlaps the P0 transcribed start site and has been mapped to a 135 bp region between bases -6725 and -6590. Rps12-ps1 lies 4.2kb upstream of the P1 transcription start site of Xist. The Rps12-ps1 sequence is included in both the unstable Xist transcript originating from the P0 promoter as well as the transcript of the Xist antisense gene, Tsix. The Rps19X-ps1 psuedogene was also identified downstream of Rps12-ps1 but 5' to the Xist gene.
