(A, B) Schematic of the cerebellar vermis primordium (CBp) in an embryo at E12.5 (A) and E14.5 (B). The curved dotted arrow in (A) shows the direction of migration of the granule cell precursors that originate from the rhombic lip (RL) and migrate over the surface of the CBp to form the external granule cell layer (EGL). The dotted line in (B) shows the forming EGL at E14.5. The box in each schematic shows the tissue region shown for in situ hybridization (A', A'', B',B'') E12.5 and E14.5, respectively. (C-E and C'-E') Near birth, the EGL is divided into the postmitotic premigratory granule cell layer (pml) and germinal cell layer (gz). (F, F') At P17, the EGL is gone. Inner granule cell layer (IGL) and molecular layer (ML) are indicated. Magnification bars are 0.1 mm A'-F', A'', B'', and C'-F'; 0.2 mm C-F.
