Caption | RNA in situ hybridization. (A) Cranial neural crest cells during their migration to the branchial arches (arrowheads) and differentiation to progenitors of cranial nerve ganglia in E8.5-E10.5. Embryos are staged by the somite number. Two streams of expressing hindbrain neural crest cells merge (yellow asterisks). Arrowhead indicates the frontier of progressive down-regulation in the branchial arch of the wild type embryo (at 22s to 32s). Arrowhead in mutant indicates that activity persists in the neural crest cells that populate the branchial arches. White asterisk indicates mesenchyme adjacent to the forebrain. ne, neuroepithelium; ec, surface ectoderm. M to L indicates mediolateral axis. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
