phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• 6 months after treatment with N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) and feeding of either a control or high fat high sugar diet, mice become moribund unlike similarly treated wild-type mice

liver/biliary system
• at one month, show increased staining collagen I and alpha-smooth muscle actin
• slight increase in markers of apoptosis but no overt phenotype
• at one month of age show increased staining for macrophage and neutrophil markers

neoplasm
• following treatment with N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) and fed either a control or high fat high sugar diet, mice show an increased tumor burden and liver weight to body weight ratio
• high fat high sugar diet significantly augmented the difference in liver tumor burden
• liver tumors show loss of architecture and hepatocyte ballooning indicative of hepatocelluar carcinoma

immune system
• at one month of age show increased staining for macrophage and neutrophil markers

homeostasis/metabolism
• 6 months after treatment with N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) and feeding of either a control or high fat high sugar diet, mice become moribund unlike similarly treated wild-type mice
