• T cells, macrophages and eosinophils have increased rates of apoptosis in the lungs of mice sensitized and then challenged with OVA compared to controls
• there is increased number of apoptotic CD4+ T cells in the lungs of mice sensitized and then challenged with OVA compared to controls
• percentage of apoptotic cells is also increased in vitro when T cells are cultured with TNF or Fas-ligand
• splenocyte proliferation in response to OVA sensitization and challenge is reduced compared to controls
