reproductive system
• increased 3.8-fold compared to in wild-type mice
• granulose cell apoptosis is rare compared to in wild-type atretic follicles
• mice exhibit varying degrees of tubular damage with atrophic tubules lined by single layers of cells consisting of Sertoli cells and a few spermatogonia unlike in wild-type mice
• unlike in wild-type cells, large vacuoles are found within the cytoplasm
• however, no increase in Sertoli cell apoptosis is detected
• 4 of 20 aged mice develop benign ovarian cystic teratomas compared to none of 26 wild-type mice
• maturation at the spermatid phase is reduced 56% compared to in wild-type mice
• 61% of PMSG-treated mice exhibit spontaneous ovulation compared to 17% of similarly treated wild-type mice
• PMSG-treated mice produce larger litters than similarly treated wild-type mice

neoplasm
• 4 of 20 aged mice develop benign ovarian cystic teratomas compared to none of 26 wild-type mice

homeostasis/metabolism
• pregnant mare's serum gonadotrophin (PMSG)-treated mice exhibit a 57% suppression of induced follicular apoptosis compared to similarly treated wild-type mice
• 61% of PMSG-treated mice exhibit spontaneous ovulation compared to 17% of similarly treated wild-type mice
• PMSG-treated mice produce larger litters than similarly treated wild-type mice

endocrine/exocrine glands
• granulose cell apoptosis is rare compared to in wild-type atretic follicles
