Spontaneous mutations in this gene cause hyperactive circling behavior and impaired vestibuloocular reflex but do not affect vestibular sensory evoked potential responses, otolith organs or hearing. In contrast, mice homozygous for a null allele have normal hearing and do not show circling behavior.
