QTL data in MGD can be accessed through Phenotype, Strain, QTL symbol, Marker Symbol, Chromosome location, Author, Publication, or a combination of these.
Descriptions of each of these QTL query access points are described below.
For more detailed information on the representation of QTL data in MGD see, the description of the QTL Data Model.
Field Descriptions for Quantitative Trait Loci Data
FIELD
|
DESCRIPTION
|
| Phenotype Class and Phenotype Name
|
Complex trait phenotypes associated with Quantitative Trait Loci are classified into several broad categories. You can list all of the studies included in a particular Phenotype Class by selecting it. Alternatively, you can try a more specific search by entering a search term into the Phenotype Name field instead. |
| Strain
symbol(s)
|
Strain of mouse used in a QTL mapping experiment.
Default operator: BEGINS. Generates a list of all QTL studies in which a specific strain of mouse has been used. |
| QTL
symbol(s)
|
Symbol
for a Quantitative Trait Locus. Default operator: BEGINS. You can also specify multiple
QTL symbols. In this case, you must type the exact
QTL symbols, each separated by a comma. When you search using multiple
symbols, the query finds the set of records such that each experiment contains
data on all the markers you specified. It is important to note that not all QTLs in MGD have been assigned symbols.
|
| Marker
symbol(s)
|
Symbol
for a mouse marker. Default operator: BEGINS. You can also specify multiple
marker symbols. In this case, you must type the exact
marker symbols, each separated by a comma. When you search using multiple
symbols, the query finds the set of records such that each experiment contains
data on all the markers you specified.
|
| Chromosome
|
Mouse
chromosome selection list. You can select one or more chromosomes to filter
your search to retrieve experimental records related to markers on specified
chromosomes.
|
| Authors
|
The
complete list of authors of the article. The default operator is CONTAINS.
Enter a part of the name of the author you are interested in. Using the BEGINS
operator is equivalent to using the First author field.
|
| J
Number
|
Unique
ID assigned to a reference in MGD. Use this field to retrieve experiment
records related to a particular reference. The default operator is "=". Be wary
of using "<", ">" or other operators as they specify an open-ended range
of possible values. You can search for mapping records related to multiple
references by entering multiple J numbers. To do so, you must user the "="
operator and enter the J numbers separated by commas
