Mutants are known for their "hopping gait". Homozygotes for targeted null mutations show loss of limb alternation in locomotion and axon guidance defects of the corticospinal tract within medulla and spinal cord, resulting in aberrant midline projections. Heterozygotes show less severe phenotype.
