Mutations in this gene cause accelerated postnatal growth. Homozygotes for a targeted mutation also show increased bone growth, enlargement of most organs, collagen deposition in the skin and some ducts and vessels, lower major urinary protein levels, and elevated IGF-I mRNA levels in some tissues.
