Homozygous null embryos show delayed growth, reduced cell proliferation, increased apoptosis and die by E11.5. At E9.5-E10.5, most major organs are smaller and the neural tube is shrunk in some cases. Mutant MEFs cease to grow after 2-3 passages showing increased apoptosis and reduced DNA synthesis.
