Homozygotes are chronically hypertensive partly due to changes in peripheral resistance and increased central AT1-receptor activation, and show salt-sensitive hypertension and abnormal pulmonary vascular remodeling with increased ventricular mass and muscularization of peripheral pulmonary vessels.
