Incidental mutations (data from APF )
 
Homozygous mice for a targeted mutation of this gene are born normally, but exhibited high perinatal mortality of all genotypes on congenic backgrounds. This appears to be a maternal effect because the presence of a single functioning allele in females can prevent this mortality.
