Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit decreased embryo size, embryonic growth retardation, incomplete embryo turning, abnormal head shape, mild caudal neural tube kinks, abnormal tails, placentation defects, and complete lethality during organogenesis. A minority exhibit abnormal hearts and some have abnormally vascularized yolk sacs.
