Homozygous mice for a null allele exhibit abnormal gait, enhanced nociception, abnormal anxiety-like behavior, strong freezing responses with or without cue tone in contextual and cued-fear conditioning tasks and low memory retention. Double homozygous KO with Caskin2 affects synapse efficacy in the brain and leads to spatial learning and novel object recognition deficits.
