Mice homozygous for a null allele show reduced testis weight, oligozoospermia, teratozoospermia, and male subfertility. Sperm defects include a disorganized mitochondrial structure, an abnormal gap between the middle and principal pieces, and hairpin flagellum leading to impaired sperm motility.
