Homozygous inactivation of this gene relieves hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury and improves pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy. Mice homozygous for a null allele show increased susceptibility to poly(I:C)-, LPS- and Salmonella typhimurium infection-induced death.
