Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit early embryonic lethality and loss epiblast-derived structures as a result of decreased cell proliferation and increased apoptosis. Cultured blastocysts corresponding to E7.5 embryos display a dramatic decrease in inner cell mass proliferation.
