Mice homozygous for a spontaneous allele die prematurely displaying low sulfamidase activity, variable lysosomal storage in various brain cell types and other tissues, heparan sulfate-uria, scruffy coats, corneal opacities, bladder distension, hydronephrosis, hepatosplenomegaly and bone deformities.
