Homozygous null mutants die prematurely with cellular necrosis in the ependyma, breakdown of blood-brain barrier, hydrocephaly with enlarged ventricles, and severe neurological abnormalities. Mice homozygous for an ENU-induced allele exhibit increased susceptibility to Salmonella infection and LPS.
