Homozygous disruption of this gene results in decreased body weight, increased energy expenditure, reduced adiposity, and protection from high-fat diet induced obesity. On a high-fat diet, mice show resistance to hepatic steatosis, improved glucose tolerance, and decreased insulin levels.
