Homozygous null mice display enhanced allergen-induced airway hyperresponsiveness, pulmonary eosinophilia, and chemokine and Th2 cytokine responses in lung tissue and lung-derived CD4+ lymphocytes. Primary pancreatic islets are partially protected from cytokine- or nitric oxide-induced apoptosis.
