Homozygotes for a null mutation exhibit impaired migration into proximal extraembryonic regions resulting in furrows of visceral endoderm at the junction of embryonic and extraembryonic regions, vascular insufficiency in the intersomitic region, dilated vessels in the brain and embryonic lethality.
