Embryos homozygous for a hypomorphic allele lack early egg cylinders and die at gastrulation. Heterozygotes show a transient growth deficit, a white belly spot and hypopigmented tail and paws, while embryonic fibroblasts show a reduction in PMA- and insulin-stimulated translation.
