Mutation details: An 8.5 kb portion of the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha promoter was used to drive the human microtubule-associated protein tau with the R406W mutation postnataly in forebrain neurons. Protein was expressed the greatest in the hippocampus, followed in decreasing amounts by the neocortex, the olfactory bulb, the striatum, and the thalamus. Mutant protein was barely detectable in the midbrain, the cerebellum and the spinal cord. Lines 502, 492 and 483 demonstrated similar expression patterns. (J:100958)
