Mutation details: A 500 nt fragment containing a portion of exon 7 and all of exon 8 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. Whereas Northern blot analyses showed an absence of normal transcript, aberrant transcripts containing neo sequence were detected in homozygous mutant mice. Translation of the mutant transcripts was expected to result in truncated peptides lacking 8 of the 12 endogenous transmembrane domains. (J:28278)
