Mutation details: The insertion of a neomycin selection cassette deleted 2.0kb of the upstream regulatory region as well as sequence in exon 1 encoding the first 71 amino acids. Northern blot analysis of total brain RNA showed a lack of transcript produced from this allele. Encoded protein was undetected in homozygous mutant mice via immunohistochemical staining of astrocytes. (J:25093, J:96523)
